Our Process
A note on our steeping process:
Steeping is one of the most essential steps of the process and can result in bitterness if done poorly. If water temperatures or steeping time is not just right, the whole tea brewing experience is compromised. This is why we have developed such a refined process to brew Pumpkin Boy Teas. This attention to detail is apart of our promise to deliver a superior product and be disruptive to the tea industry. Every day, we strive to innovate and be as efficient as possible. Our processes include many intuitive ways to deliver a superior product while significantly reducing waste. The less variation in the process, the more consistency the product will have every time you open a Pumpkin Boy Tea.
The best ingredients are our number one priority. Ultimately, we want to develop a product that offers immersive taste and essential health benefits. We hope this explanation of the process has reassured you to the purity and quality of Pumpkin Boy Tea. Now, join us in enjoying a Pumpkin Boy Tea with a new perspective on the meticulous nature of production. We stop nowhere to deliver the best product we possibly can. Why would we do this? Because we want to make you happy! Enjoy!
When preparing for a brew session, we clean, collect, and organize the hot line areas at Real Good Kitchen. This is where our stockpot burners are located. Our pots and utensils are cleaned in the high temp washer while our 16 oz bottles are labeled and sanitized in the big utility sinks. Once the pot is clean and fully assembled— with the thermometer and spout attached— we begin filling the 15 gallon stockpot with filtered water. Since it takes awhile to get that much water to boil, we begin heating it up as soon as the pot is around a third of the way full. Meanwhile, the bottles are racked and put in the refrigerator to dry. Next, we measure out all the dry ingredients, sweeteners, and juices using a digital scale. This ensures we have a consistent blend that is full of flavor. Once the water is beginning to boil, we add in sweeteners and begin steeping the tea. Next we turn off the heat and add our juices and stir as we prepare the tea to be chilled. When preparing a beverage, it must be cooled down to 40 degrees in at least 2 hours to make it safe for consumption. Our chiller does that in less than an hour. The chiller is submerged in the stockpot as we run ice water through it. This step of the process took many months to perfect but has left us with the most efficient process that allows our tea to have a longer shelf life and ensure safe consumption. All that is left at this point is bottling and storing in a refrigerated environment. We store our reserves in the Real Good Kitchen’s refrigerator, where the tea is produced before it is delivered to the customer to be made available for purchase.
